Duties

  • Serve as program manager or technical advisor to support programs that provide for training and helpdesk operations, workflow documentation, and customer support for a natural resource program specializing in geospatial solutions.
  • Advise and assist in making and carrying out decisions affecting major program execution.
  • Apply advanced theories, principles, concepts, practices, standards and methods in the application of geospatial technology in support of natural resource and land management.
  • Develop and advance relationships to promote and advocate for the use of geospatial technology and align products and services to mission needs.
  • Direct the activities of subordinate programs to ensure requirements and goals are accomplished.
  • Create a work environment that respects, appreciates, and accepts the contributions and perspectives of all employees.

Basic Requirements for General Natural Resources Management and Biological Sciences Series (0401)
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

OR

A combination of education and experience with courses equivalent to a major described above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Your resume must reflect the experience used to meet this requirement.

Basic Requirements for Physical Science Series (1301)
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

OR

A combination of education and experience: 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement, you must also possess experience and/or directly related education in the amounts listed below.

Specialized Experience Requirement:

GS-13: You must have one-year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level. Specialized experience is defined as most of the following: Provided support and administration to a program or significant project to enhance the effectiveness, delivery, and scope of program/projects within a natural resources program area. Applied geospatial tools, models and data to improve workflows, create efficiencies, analyze alternatives, and provide solutions in a natural resource focused or land management environment. Evaluated and improved programs, projects or activities through the monitoring and use of customer service, satisfaction, or performance metrics. Analyzed new business process methods, policy, guidance or techniques that were of material significance in the solution of important management and organizational problems, particularly those related to Botany; Ecology; Engineering; Forestry; Geology; Hydrology; Recreation; or other related natural or physical science disciplines. Provided technical and administrative supervision to employees in a variety of professional and non-professional occupations. Create a work environment that respects, appreciates, and accepts the contributions and perspectives of all employees.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
